The District 2 Equity/Human Rights Conference, took place January 29 and 30th in Colonial Williamsburg, VA. This years theme was, Embracing Our Diversity. We entered the conference with some pre-existing issues. Our focus issues included the lack of educated membership, local participation, mentorship, volunteer work, a National equity committee newsletter and commitment to name a few. The conference begun on Friday evening with the history of Equity in the district given by Ruth Marriott and Dennis Serette. It included various workshops including, How to build a local committee, Establishing a mentorship program, Methods of engagement and Developing outreach thru social activities. There was also a report given from the National Committee On Equity from District COE Rep, William Steele. Up for discussion was the potential name change from COE to Civil Rights Committee. A vote was taken and a vote of confidence was given to William to support name
 change. A D2 welcome was given in the morning session by out District VP Ronald Collins. VP Collins pledged his support to the Equity/Civil Rights Committee in the future. Finally at the Awards Luncheonon Saturday, VP Collins presented CWA Staff, Ruth Marriott a District 2 Service Award for her contribution over the years on Civil Rights.
